Why car dealers don’t sell electric cars, they don’t make any money.

Recent NYTimes article, see link below isn’t telling the full story.

Car dealers don’t make money from selling new cars. They make money from cars being traded in and they make money on service. They also make money on accessories. That stupid undercoating that all new cars seem to have cost them very little and are high margin profits. Think of the movie theatre. They don’t make any money on selling tickets. They make money on the popcorn.

Electric cars don’t really have service. At least, not as a recurring revenue stream. There are limited third party add on accessories.

Car salesmen, as most sales people do, whats easy. They do what they know.
